Will had Mega Blocks and Duplo blocks when he was younger but he just made cars out of them (and even those were half-made already). For his fifth birthday, though, we got him some big-boy Legos and he has been doing great with them. He had a moment during the a get-together when we took every Lego toy apart so that a friend's daughter couldn't play with them, but other than that he's become quite the little builder.
Patrick showed Will some pictures of the lunar rover from decades ago and Will surprised us by building it last week and presenting it out of the blue.
A few days later he and Patrick were playing in his room and he built a mining machine. Then he built the smaller one for daddy so that he could drive around and "supervise and make sure everyone was working."
Will kept fiddling around with his and the next thing we knew, he'd transformed his mining machine into a boat. Patrick worked hard to follow suit.
